Dear fellow moms and dads,
As I sit here holding my 9-month-old baby girl, I can't help but wonder how my own mother did it all. My mom, an army officer and a nurse, managed to raise three kids and have a successful career at the same time. She was a Lieutenant Colonel and even received a commendation from the Chief of Airforce Staff for healing a completely burnt soldier. And now, in her retirement, she's helping my sister with her accounts. I mean, how did she do it all?
Here I am, a stay-at-home mom who has recently started writing blogs about motherhood, and I can barely keep up. It's my first Mother's Day as a mom, and I have a newfound appreciation for everything my mom did for us. She truly was a superhero.
Being a mom is hard, y'all. I used to think that being a stay-at-home mom would be a piece of cake, but boy, was I wrong. I'm constantly trying to juggle taking care of my baby, keeping the house clean, and finding time for myself.
And can we talk about personal grooming for a moment? I don't remember the last time I got my eyebrows trimmed, or had a proper haircut for that matter. I look like a gorilla! But you know what? It's all part of motherhood. When you have a baby, you learn to prioritize things differently. Suddenly, getting a shower becomes a luxury and shaving your legs is a distant memory.
But you know what's funny? I used to think that personal grooming was important for me, but now, it's just not a priority anymore. I'm too busy snuggling with my little one and watching her grow up right before my eyes.
But you know what? It's all worth it. Seeing my daughter's smile makes everything else fade away. And as I write these blogs about my journey through motherhood, I realize that I'm not alone.
It's okay to feel overwhelmed. It's okay to feel like you're not doing enough. It's okay to take a break and have a good cry in the bathroom. We're all in this together.
So, to all the moms out there, whether you're a working mom, a stay-at-home mom, or somewhere in between, who haven't had a chance to get their eyebrows done or shave their legs in a while, don't worry. You're not alone. And honestly, who cares? Your kids don't care what you look like. They just care that you love them and take care of them. You're doing an amazing job, and your kids love you more than anything in the world.
So, embrace your inner gorilla, and let's all celebrate Mother's Day together, messy hair and all.
And to my own mom, thank you. Thank you for being my superhero and for showing me that I can do anything I set my mind to. I love you more than words can express.
Until next time,
A frazzled but grateful mom
