🌸 What I Want My Child to Learn From Krishna and Radha

This Janmashtami was special. I dressed my daughter as Radha Rani — her innocent eyes, shy smile, and tiny lehenga made her look like she had just walked out of Vrindavan. Together, we created a Jhanki (divine tableau), and I found myself reliving childhood memories while making new ones with her.

We prepared the prasad — sabudana khichdi, jeera vrat aloo, coconut and peanuts, and even a diabetic-friendly version of panjeeri (which turned out to be a bittersweet surprise!). Together, we made Charanamrit, bathed our little Krishna idol, dressed him in new clothes, and decorated the jhanki with love.

In the evening, we sang Krishna bhajans at the temple, walked around the fair, and soaked in the joy of community celebrations.

But beyond the rituals, the food, and the festivities — I kept wondering: What lessons do I want my daughter to carry with her from Krishna and Radha?

🌼 Lessons from Krishna and Radha for My Child

1. The Power of Love and Friendship

Radha and Krishna’s bond wasn’t just about devotion — it was pure love and deep friendship.👉 Lesson for my daughter: Relationships are not built on conditions, but on understanding, trust, and joy in each other’s presence.

2. Playfulness is Divine Too

Krishna’s mischief — stealing butter, teasing the gopis — reminds us that play, laughter, and innocence are sacred.👉 Lesson for my daughter: Don’t let the world take away your childlike joy. Even in adulthood, hold on to curiosity and playfulness.

3. Faith and Resilience

From lifting Govardhan Hill to standing up to injustice, Krishna taught that faith gives strength.👉 Lesson for my daughter: Challenges will come, but with faith (in God, in yourself, in goodness), no mountain is too heavy to lift.

4. Balance of Duty and Devotion

Krishna balanced his divine duties with personal bonds — he was a guide, a warrior, and also a loving friend.👉 Lesson for my daughter: Life is about balancing responsibility with relationships. Do your duty, but don’t forget to nurture your bonds.

5. Radha’s Grace and Devotion

Radha teaches us the beauty of unconditional love and spiritual grace.👉 Lesson for my daughter: Live with compassion, loyalty, and kindness. True beauty is not in appearance, but in how deeply you love and care for others.

💖 My Prayer as a Mother

This Janmashtami, as I held my daughter’s hand through the fair, I whispered a silent prayer:

"May you always carry Krishna’s joy in your heart, Radha’s devotion in your soul, and the courage to face the world with love, laughter, and faith."

Because festivals are not just rituals — they’re seeds of values we plant in our children’s hearts. 🌸
